“Celebrating over 125 years of Prayer, Service, and Evangelism"
The new 2012 National Handbook! Complete with the updated bylaws approved at Triennial, the new Handbook has undergone some major renovations. We've updated the Chaplains, Master's Fund, International Chapters, and the Timeline, just to name a few. We've also improved the "How to Form a Daughter's Chapter" - Senior, Junior, and International. Further we've included the Prayer and Motto of the Order in the inside cover of the handbook for easy reference. But that's not all!
As an option, the 2012 National Handbook will be available in 8 1/2" X 11" sized paper, three-hole punched, but not bound so that it easily fits into a 3-ring binder. This is just an option; The National handbook will still be available in its normal size with the blue cover.
No matter what form you choose, please purchase the new 2012 National Handbook as soon as possible and encourage everyone in your chapter to do the same. The old Handbooks are now out of date. Of course these new changes means that the page numbers have changed so Handbooks from different years will not have the same page numbers. We apologize for any inconvenience but these changes are necessary as we continue to updte and improve our Handbook.
For future reference, our National Handbook will be updated every three years to coincide with any Bylaw changes made at Triennial. Every effort will be made to avoid updating it more often than every three years.
Are you a Diocesan President? New on the website is "A Primer for Diocesan Assembly Presidents". This is a great resource for Diocesan Presidents and contains a lot of important "need to know" information. Be sure to download your copy today from the Officer's Corner.
Also new to the Officer's Corner is "A Guide for Diocesan Assembly Chaplains" which includes freflections by our National Chaplain, Bishop Silvestre Romero. This guide summarizes what clergy can and perhaps should do when serving as chaplains for the Order at the Diocesan Assembly level.
Lastly, we are in the process of creating a brand new Chapter Manual. Our Committee is hard at work putting it together. But we need your help. We would like input from Chapter Presidents as to how the Manual can help you and what topics need to be covered. Join the conversation and connect with chapter presidents from around the country on the new Yahoo Group for Chapter presidents. Email me and ask for an invitiation to join. We look forward to seeing you there!

Article III, Section 6, H Chapter Relief Status. Upon reaching the age of 85 a Daughter may apply through her chapter or Diocesan Assembly President for relief of the obligation to pay dues. Upon approval of her application she would be relieved from paying national, provincial and diocesan dues for the remainder of their life. The rationale behind this new bylaw is that Chapters or members that pay dues for Daughters in deteriorating health could obtain relief.
When you apply for dues relief you will no longer receive The Royal Cross or be eligible to be a delegate at Triennial or hold office. This relief came about from a discussion that happened at an Open House at the National Office, September, 2011. The discussion was centered around those DOKs who were in failing health, could no longer take part in activities or meetings but the Daughters had meant a great deal to them. Chapters or Daughters would pay dues so that they could remain a Daughter. When a DOK is approved for dues relief that also means that no money will be returned to the diocesan assembly or the province in their name. They will be entitled to continue to wear the cross of the Order.
The new bylaw does not replace Dues Financial Assistance. Dues Financial Assistance is still available through chapters, diocesan assemblies or provinces for those who need some help paying their dues.
Click here for the Application for Dues Relief. The signed and completed application should be mailed to the National Office.
